Promises a good show … Cheryl Cole will perform on Sunday’s X Factor

19 Oct
Cheryl Cole
CHERYL Cole will leave her judging seat to perform Promise This, the first single from her second solo album, on The X Factor results show this Sunday.

It will be the first time the gorgeous Geordie has performed on the stage since she sang her first ever solo single Fight For This Love there on the previous series.

Last year she was supported by husband Ashley Cole but the pair divorced in September after we revealed he had sent naked photos of himself to lap dancer Sonia Wild.

Nearly 15 million viewers tuned in last year to watch Cheryl’s X Factor performance but bosses are expecting even bigger figures this weekend as 15.2m watched the show on the Sunday just gone.

A spokesman for Cheryl last night confirmed she will be singing live – despite an energy-charged dance routine.

A source said: “Cheryl will be dancing and singing at the same time. She’s really excited about it and has been practising non-stop.

“Like last year it will be spectacular with lots of backing dancers on stage.

“The song is released the next day and she is hoping it will fly into the number one slot which would really enhance her reputation as a solo artist outside of Girls Aloud.”

Last Sunday Katy Perry and former contestant Diana Vickers performed.

This weekend will be a Cheryl extravaganza for ITV1. After the results show she will reveal her heartache over her failed marriage to Ashley on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories which follows the X Factor show on Saturday night at 10pm.

Sunday’s X Factor results show starts at 8pm on ITV1

Cheryl Cole reduced to tears for TWO hours in TV grilling by Piers Morgan

15 Oct

She had wept throughout a gruelling two-hour interview where she spoke for the first time about her broken marriage and her near-death experience with malaria.

And as Cheryl Cole left the TV studios after being grilled by Piers Morgan, it was obvious that the experience had taken its toll.

Curled up in the back of a car and concentrating on a phone call, the petite X Factor star looked visibly upset and close to tears again, while her mother Joan Callaghan was obviously distraught.

Renowned for her reserved nature and reticence to speak about her private life, the 27-year-old singer broke her silence for the first time since her divorce from Ashley Cole as she talked to Morgan.

Filming Morgan’s ITV1 show, Life Stories, the X Factor judge confessed that after discovering her ex-husband’s string of flings: ‘I was just a very heartbroken girl.’

Despite this, Mrs Cole said she would always love him as she admitted she was at a loss to explain why the relationship had collapsed.

The star revealed that she still regularly speaks to Cole despite his frequent infidelity during their three-and-a-half year marriage.

The singer, whose divorce was finalised last month, sobbed as said she still believed he was ‘a genuinely nice guy’, adding: ‘Once we get over this obstacle, I hope we can be friends again. A part of me will always love Ashley.’

She explained: ‘Looking back on it, I feel numb. We had a great marriage and a fantastic wedding day but I don’t know where it went wrong.

‘To this day I still question that.’

‘Once we get through all the obstacles I hope we can be friends.”

And she refused to say whether dancer Derek Hough was her new love, even though he recorded a gushing message shown during recording.

She said coyly: ‘I am not confirming or denying anything.

‘People can think he’s my boyfriend, people can think he’s my best friend.’

As the Daily Mail revealed yesterday, Mrs Cole also revealed that she wrote a will after doctors told her she was on the brink of death with malaria.

The star said she had been given just 24 hours to live as she fought the illness in hospital.

She was forced had to miss the ‘boot camp’ stage of the current series of X Factor after falling ill with malaria in July and was only fit to return to pick her finalists last month.

Mrs Cole was joined by her mother Joan Callaghan and Girls Aloud bandmates Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts, who all cried during the interview as she discussed her battle against the tropical disease.

Support: Cheryl's mother Joan Callaghan watched the interview in the audience

She said doctors told her she was close to death after she contracted the illness during a trip to Tanzania.

She admitted drinking three vodkas the night before a photoshoot which left her feeling like she had ‘the worst hangover’.

It turned out to be the start of her struggle with the illness.

In the interview, she admitted drawing up a will and considering how to divide up her possessions among friends and family.

She told Morgan: ‘I thought I was going to die, I actually thought I was going to die. I thought if I’m going to die I want to die soon because I was in so much pain’.

Host: Piers Morgan asked Cheryl about various aspects of her personal life

A source on the programme said: ‘She was given 24 hours to survive and told if her condition did not improve she would die.’

Mrs Cole, who earned £1.2million for the last series of The X Factor, also
discussed her relationship with Simon Cowell, adding: ‘I have a connection with him like no one else.

‘He is one of the most important people in my life. He just gets me.’

However she confessed she missed being a ‘regular’ girl.

‘Sometimes I feel completely trapped,’ she said. ‘I just can’t go back to Newcastle and put on tracksuit bottoms and Ugg boots.’

The Newcastle-born singer spoke about the recent backlash against her decision not to put Gamu Nhengu through to the X Factor live shows, insisting she’d made the right choices with Katie Waissel and Cher Lloyd.

But she said she was sorry that Gamu was facing deportation to Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Mrs Cole debuted her new red hairstyle as she left the X Factor studios following a dress rehearsal on Friday night.

The full interview will be screened on ITV1 on October 23.

“She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. It sucks. She is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. Like, how do you have a face like that? With hair like that? And dimples. And a body like that, that’s proportionate like that? And, you have a successful career. Something about that is not right.”

Revenge ... Chez slashes Ashley's tyres in song

HELL hath no fury like a woman scorned – especially hard-as-nails Geordie CHERYL COLE.

The X Factor judge releases her second album, Messy Little Raindrops, on November 1 and I managed to get my hands on an early demo.

There are eight cracking new tracks, recorded during one of the most turbulent years of her life.

One song in particular, Happy Tears, goes straight for love rat ex-husband ASHLEY’s jugular.

Love rat ... ex-husband Ashley is target of Cheryl's bile

The lyrics include lines about slashing his tyres, burning his suits, knocking back apologies, blocking calls and selling all her diamonds.

As Cheryl might say: “Divvint mess with me, pet.”

At first it sounds like a weepy heartbreaker with the opening lines: “I cried when I heard you were cheatin’/I cried when I said I was leavin’/I cried when my heart stopped believin’/But I’m all out of tears.” But the chorus explains these are no tears of pain. Oh no. Just “happy tears”.

Suck that one up, Mr Cole.

Cheryl didn’t write the song herself but approved the lyrics. She hasn’t put her pop career on hold during all the X Factor madness, L’Oreal business or the small matter of that life-threatening malaria she had to deal with.

Straight after her show-stopping performance at the Brits in February, she dived back into the studio and cracked on.

You can’t blame her. Her debut album, 3 Words, is triple platinum – more than 900,000 copies – and she has sold over 1.5million singles. And from what I’ve listened to, her latest album is shaping up for a similar success.

Her first single from it, Promise This, is already out, with more pop than bubble wrap.

Yeah Yeah is a big dance hit with a heavy hint of Madonna in her Confessions On A Dance Floor era. It will be a big club hit, guaranteed, with guest vocals from TRAVIE McCOY.

A slightly more gentle track is Live Tonight, produced by WILL.I.AM. It has my favourite lyric of the year too: “Dee-dum-dum-dum-diddy-dum-dum.”

There must have been a pop monsoon in the UK recently – because her next single will be The Flood, the same title as TAKE THAT’s comeback as a five-piece.

I revealed last week that Everybody, Everyone, another track on the album, features DIZZEE RASCAL. It’s a brilliant collaboration.

He raps: “Raised in the gutter, I came from the bottom, under-privileged and overly rotten. I heard in Scotland they call it The Schemes so I plugged and plotted to follow my dreams.” Class.

Cheryl’s got her Fisher-Price piano out on track Hummingbird. If Tinkerbell were a pop star, this is how I’d imagine her music would sound. That’s no criticism – it’s infectious pop.

Let’s Get Down is another radio and club-friendly track which should be a real hit in aerobics classes up and down the country.

And Waiting, the last song I heard, sampled the classic Vanessa Carlton piano hook from A Thousand Miles.

Cheryl has washed her hair of that gimp Ashley, and pulled together another guaranteed No1 album. Good work ma’am.

Cheryl Cole’s second album brings out her wild side

Cheryl Cole’s spiky tattoo has done a disappearing act as the X Factor judge goes wild on the cover of her new album.

This image will be the cover shot to Cole’s second album, Messy Little Raindrops, out at the beginning of next month.

Stepping up her class act, the Geordie beauty has decided to scratch out her mean-looking barbed wire ink job that normally adorns the top of her right thigh.

This time around, Cole is letting her boots do the talking as she poses in fierce leopard print and gold spiked heels.

With flesh exposed it is easy to see the effect malaria has had on the 27-year-old’s slight frame.

The star recorded her second album in LA and is employing the arsenal of her pop rivals Kylie Minogue, 42, and Britney Spears, 28.

Chez says her new collection of tracks mix ‘pop, r’n’b and dance’ after working with Kylie’s producer Starsmith and Britney’s ex-boyfriend JR Rotem.

The Girls Aloud singer has a lot to live up to. Her debut album ‘3 Words’ went triple-platinum after selling 900,000 copies worldwide.

CHERYL COLE IS SO SWEET TO HER FANS

2 Oct
Story Image
NATION’S sweetheart Cheryl Cole faced a crowd of manic fans yesterday as she arrived at her first book signing. Her devoted followers had been queuing for an amazing 36 hours after camping out in the torrential rain in London’s Piccadilly. And the big-hearted singer arranged mugs of hot chocolate with marshmallows to be ferried out as she was running late.  Waterstone’s bosses said they had not seen scenes like it since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released three years ago.  Inside Cheryl signed copies of Through My Eyes for two hours for over 300 fans.  A Waterstone’s spokesman said: “She is the people’s princess.”
